Steppe Ventures is the angel investment practice of Sufeng Li, based in the Netherlands.
Sufeng Li
Founder
Sufeng trained in finance. He worked in internal audit and risk management, qualified as a management accountant, and then spent more than ten years building software as a product owner, including in fintech.
Today he invests through Steppe and works as a fractional CFO for a small number of companies. That combination shapes how Steppe works with founders: the numbers get read properly, and the product questions come from someone who has shipped products.
How Steppe works
Every company is screened against the same written rubric: moat, founder and team, traction, market and fit with the thesis. Founders get a clear answer.
The launchpad is the other half of what we do: practical advice for founders moving between Asia and Europe, in both directions.
The name
The steppe is the grassland that runs across Eurasia, from northern China to the edge of Europe. For centuries it was the road that people, goods and ideas travelled between the two.
That is the direction we work in.
